Tradition on The Green: The Old Cottonians' Golf Tournament Brings Cottonians Together Once Again

The Old Cottonians’ Association (OCA) once again brought the Bishop Cotton alumni community together for a day of sport, laughter, and tradition at the annual Old Cottonians' Golf Tournament—a legacy event that reflects the enduring spirit and camaraderie the OCA has fostered for generations. Held on 26 June at Bangalore Golf Club, with the club's captain in attendance as an Old Cottonian, this year’s edition saw close to 90 alumni tee off, reconnect, and celebrate the enduring bonds of their shared Cottonian heritage.

The tournament, known not just for its friendly competition but also for its atmosphere of camaraderie, is one of the OCA’s hallmark sporting events. For generations of Cottonians, it remains a meaningful way to stay connected — not only to each other but also to the values and friendships formed during their time at Bishop Cotton.

Ali Akmal Jan (Class of 2008, Pope House) captured the spirit of the day perfectly:

“Being part of the OC's Golf Tournament is more than just playing golf; it’s about reconnecting, reliving memories, and celebrating the camaraderie that Cottons gave us. There’s laughter on the fairways, handshakes that turn into hugs, and a feeling that you’re part of something bigger than just a game. That’s what keeps me coming back year after year.”

This year, SportsCentric, a company dedicated to curating community-driven sports experiences, partnered with the OCA to help organize the event. Now in its second year supporting the tournament, SportsCentric brought its expertise in event execution and alumni engagement to enhance the experience, while staying true to the spirit of the occasion.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of the sponsors—Assetz's Properties provided key backing, alongside South India Agencies / EBCO, an enterprise led by an Old Cottonian. Entertainment Everywhere graced the event with their support for the first time, with Geist and Yaksha on board as the beverage sponsors, along with Authent as the apparel sponsors.
